As Head of Year, you have probably notice that two things are often lacking in the cohort: punctuality and good manners! This assembly offers some key reminders and acts as a sort-of behaviour reset.

This assembly is interactive and covers the concept of Democracy, whilst also introducing the other British values. At the end, there is a task for students and a padlet competition.

This welcome back lesson has everything you will need - a template for an ‘about the teacher’ slide, an expectations quiz, a ‘which book character are you’ quiz, and many activities for students to complete. The activities include a top-trumps making session (with a resource), a ‘story of my life’ activity, and a joint-story making partner session.

This assembly is originally for year 9, reiterating acheivements from the previous term, asking students about their holiday, and stating expectations. Note: This was an online assembly, so adapt as necessary.

In this lesson, students can use the template to make their own board game based on a fantasy book of their choice. I give them two examples: Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings, but students can choose any book! Lesson comes with resources.

Here, the students will follow clues around the ‘middle earth’ (the school) to lead them to the final treasure. This could work for any school that has a playground, a hall and a library!
